Magical Substance

What substance can be fluffy, squishy and stretchy all at the same time, and is loads of fun to play with? The answer – slime! Slime is a strange substance: left to its own devices, it oozes like a liquid; give it a push or a pull, and it's stiff like a solid. During Croucher Science Week, the Science Museum Group from the UK is running a fascinating drop-in activity to introduce the science behind slime at the Hong Kong Science Museum. We will look at materials around us and their states of matter, how they change and transform, and make use of these states of matter to create your very own slippery slime to take home at the end of the day. Additionally, Walkabout Magic Shows and various science activities will be in action to highlight the part science plays in our everyday lives. Come and join us to explore, discover and find fun in science!

Space Adventures

Who hasn’t dreamed of visiting the moon or one of the planets? But the distances between all the planets are so mind-bogglingly huge, how can we ever hope to get there? Scientists are exploring the outer edges of our solar system using robotic explorers, while space agencies are developing plans to send humans to other planets. So if we’re going to explore other planets, moons and chunks of rock, which are the best to go to? In this imagination-defying interactive show, join adventure astronomer Huw James as we find out where we’ll be having space adventures in the not so distant future.
